Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 - DAC
The Pre Box S2 DAC is a digital, micro-preamplifier, that can fully unfold MQA files. {MQA means Master Quality Audio - it's a high resolution audio format used for streaming - for example Tidal.} It provides super clear digital to audio - providing your preamplifier with pure sound.
The S2 is all of 4" x 4" x 1-1/4" tall.
The front panel has a headphone jack {for unbelieveable great sound}, a volume knob, input selection, menu selection, and filter controls.
The rear panel has a USB B port, coaxial digital, fiber optical, RCA audio output, and USB micro power connection.
It is capable of high resolution audio up to 32bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512! Note: this is only available on the USB B port.
With a new proprietary clock design, Pro-Ject has managed jitter rates of unrivalled 100 Femtoseconds. This easily outperforms many renowned and respected audiophile clock generators! Jitter is critical - when digital signals are not put together with the same timing as the original, the music sounds clear but wrong. The S2 offers one of the lowest jitter rates.
Beyond jitter rates, noise level is reduced to -130 db. This is an extremely low number, meaning you'll never hear background noise.
For Roon fanatics, the S2 is "Roon Capable".
The headphone amp can support up to 600 ohm headphones.
There are a total of eight digital filters. The sound can be shaped precisely to the listeners liking.
Pre Box S2 Digital also has a remote control. It can also control the playback software of a computer. One can use Play, Pause, Forward and Rewind straight with your Pre Box S2 Digital!
